French 10

This course allows students to continue to build on the fundamentals with the focus on the communicative aspects of the language and on learning through interaction.  As in all Core French classes, French 10 targets experiential goals and makes communicating in French a valid, realistic and enriching experience.

French 20

Prerequisite:  French 10

This course uses an integrated, multi-dimensional approach to a second language learning with emphasis always on communication.  Students develop their communicative skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing through interaction and experiential learning.  The course provides material and strategies to accommodate different ability levels, interest and needs and makes communicating in French a valid, realistic and enriching experience.

French 30

Prerequisite:  French 20

This course explores high-interest themes relevant to the student’s environment.  Students are given the opportunity to integrate the four language skills as they explore each theme.  By examining and using language in a purposeful way – within the context of different communicative situations – students are better able to internalize concepts and understand and assimilate language patterns.  This course is designed to enable students and move from reliance upon the teacher and the course materials to the free expression of their own thoughts, feelings and opinions.
