Orange Shirt Day

Message from the Regina Police Service

Regina Public Schools along with the Regina Police Service would like to pass along the following message to high school students:

We want your school to be a safe and caring community. You may have heard media reports in the past week about students and/or individuals making threats of harm towards schools. From time to time, students may choose to act in a way which makes our school less safe. In rare instances, students or someone anonymously can make threats or joke about bringing a gun or other weapons to school.

It is very important to understand that even joking about a weapon at school has serious consequences. The Regina Police Service takes these types of allegations seriously and reminds everyone that it’s only through investigation that police can determine whether or not an overheard comment is a threat to public safety.  We commend those who report their concerns so they can be investigated.  At the same time, the Regina Police Service strongly discourages anyone from making casual comments which could be interpreted as threats to public safety.  Even if such comments are found to be made in jest, a person may face criminal charges.

The staff at F.W. Johnson Collegiate want to ensure you are safe at our school. Please report suspicious activity by talking to a staff member, calling 9-1-1, or text “TIP158” and your message to “CRIMES (274637)”
